Per-serving vs daily limits

VitalPlate uses two kinds of limit — one scores each food, the other tracks your day.

Last reviewed

Your nutrient limits come in two flavors, and they do different jobs.

  • Per-serving thresholds decide each food’s score. When a serving is at or over the limit, that food is flagged. This is what powers Good fit / Caution / Avoid.
  • Daily budgets are whole-day ceilings used by your food diary, so you can see how a day is adding up. These are kept separate from food scoring on purpose.

When conditions overlap

If more than one of your conditions limits the same nutrient, VitalPlate keeps the most restrictive limit — the lowest number wins. So adding a second condition can only make a limit tighter, never looser. See How your conditions combine.
